Poultry Meat Training Initiative

Following feedback from Assured Chicken Production that lack of training and training records were the biggest non-compliance found during their audits, the representatives from the chicken meat industry decided to form a working group (made up of representatives from all the large national chicken processors, growers and other industry bodies) to resolve this issue and develop a set of minimum training standards for the industry, which would be specific to job roles.

Datapoul is able to offered subsidised courses under the PMTI in:

  • Poultry Welfare
  • Manual Handling
  • Health & Safety
  • Hygiene and Biosecurity
  • Environmental Awareness (coming soon)

Specialist Vet led Training

Datapoul acknowledges the advantages to the industry of holding seminars on certain disease or management issues; to educate producers on best practice and help them better understand how certain issues are affecting their business. Datapoul plans to provide a series of separate but integrated vet-led modules, tailored to meet the needs and experience of each group. Delivered by specialist poultry vets, the aim is to engage producers and stimulate any necessary changes, to improve returns and performance on subsequent crops. It will also give the opportunity to engage with other poultry farmers and share experiences.

Some of the courses planned include:

  • Rejects and Crop Analysis (available on demand)
  • Ventilation Management
  • Vaccination Technique
  • Laboratory Practical
