Home > On Farm Assessments
Over 100 free Site Visit Assessments were carried out during the first year of the
project (to March 2011) for farmers fulfill the qualifying criteria i.e. a CPH number.
The initial veterinary visits were to provide a site health assessment to:
- Establish the current farm production baseline and kill data.
- Provide veterinary advice to supplement flock management skills, to increase crop
potential and raise awareness of any current disease challenges.
- Develop practical expertise, with additional veterinary recommendations.
These assessments will be anonymously collated by the SWHLI Knowledge Exchange into a database. Analysis of the
data will help gain a better picture of the South West broiler industry and its
specific farm types. This analysis will start in November 2011.
Have you ever wanted to compare your performance with other growers across the industry?
The Datapoul Performance Manager offers
that opportunity, as well as providing graphed daily production against targets
in an easy to digest format.
One aim of this programme is to take a new approach to preventative flock health
of broilers in the South West region; this is being achieved by disease surveys
in broiler flocks followed by appropriate training and advice. This testing is not
designed to investigate routine disease or disease outbreaks.
On Site Environmental Testing
Coming soon...
Datapoul will shortly be able to offer on farm Environmental Gas Monitoring. Testing
will be carried out by a vet or fieldsperson following a standard protocol. Gas
testing will include Carbon dioxide (CO2), Carbon monoxide (CO), Ammonia
(NH3), and humidity. We are just in the process of testing the equipment
and will be in touch shortly to let you know about this service.

Vaccination Reviews
As part of the Datapoul programme, participating broiler growers received a free
end of crop blood test to monitor for Gumboro.
Farms with low antibody levels or unevenly distributed antibody levels may have
had a vaccination problem and were advised to undertake a vaccine audit. Similarly
results showing high antibody levels may have had IBD in the crop and therefore
an audit was also advised. Please contact us if you would like a vaccination review.
