In these difficult economic times, attention to detail is key to increasing the
profitability of each crop. You may be diligently documenting daily production parameters
of water consumption, mortality etc., but are you aware of the genetic targets to
be achieved in your current crop? You know all too well the recording required to
meet industry compliance, but how can you get that data to work better for you?
Read on to find out what the Datapoul Performance Manager can do for your business…
The Datapoul Performance Manager (DPM) is a web based database specifically designed
for poultry growers. Aiding you during the growing process, it analyses your own
site records, leaving the expert husbandry to you. As well as transforming your
production data into easily understood visuals by all on site; the DPM gives you
reject analysis, as well as benchmarking and comparisons, both current and historic,
per house and crop.
What benefits does the DPM offer?
- Inputting production data into the Datapoul Performance Manager focuses the attention
and helps to be more in touch with the crop on a day to day basis.
- Highlighting daily production figures graphically enables better visibility of daily
crop performance e.g. water intake against target.
- Emailed exception reports, flag up deviations in, for example, water intake against
targets, highlighting potential crop issues.
- The DPM will also enable earlier prediction of the onset of disease, leading to
a reduction in mortality rates.
- Benchmarking allows performance comparisons with other farms growing similar birds
under similar husbandry systems; including EPEF, FCR and p/m2 week.
- Reject analysis calculates the cumulative daily mortality and compares your rejects
with conditions in the EU broiler welfare directive trigger levels.
- Capturing all medication, vaccines etc given during the crop; the DPM provides information
to help populate the Food Chain Information Report.
Simon Barton, Chairman of the SW NFU Poultry board gives his point of view… "Datapoul
is keeping the information that we keep already, but it is allowing us to look at
it in a different way... it is a very useful way of analysing the performance of
your farm. The biggest feature of the system I think is the benchmarking; which
allows you to compare yourselves with other farms to see whether your FCR, average
weight or mortality is better or worse, and that of course allows you to maximise
the benefit to the farm by trying to improve your performance. If I can improve
the FCR of the farm, the financial implications are quite significant".

results and reap the benefits.
The Datapoul Performance Manager offers simplified maintenance of crop records which
meet certification and mandatory requirements. The original program is compliant
with ACP standards and has been accepted as a replacement for some paper records.
We are currently seeking ACP endorsement of this enhanced database.
Information stored in the DPM is anonymous; data is confidential and will not be
disclosed to any third party. The system is accessed using a secure farm specific
password.
The DPM is web-based so accessible via the internet, using a PC, laptop or PDA for
data entry 'on the go'.
The DPM is available on a monthly subscription basis, at a cost of £30 per month
per farm (plus VAT). Subscribers also pay a one-off user set-up and licence fee*
of £250 (plus VAT) if eligible under the SW Healthy Livestock Initiative (SWHLI).
- The set up fee is subsidised for broiler growers in the South West region (Cornwall,
Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire) as part of SWHLI which is
funded under the Rural Development Programme for England. For broiler farmers outside
the region the one-off set up and licence fee is £375 (plus VAT).
For as little as the cost of 5 bales of shavings a month, why not join other farmers
successful in being more in control of each crops performance. We think the benefits
in saving time and money speak for themselves. To find out more call Datapoul now
